The Curious Bonsai for Women is a focused space for conversations around confidence, change, self-expression, self-trust, and meaningful personal growth — with a specific lens on women's experience.
The Curious Bonsai has always worked with women — through therapy, coaching, and personal development — and over time it became clear that the questions women most often bring into this work have a particular texture. They tend to be questions about identity, about permission, and about the gap between who they are in public and who they actually are.
These aren't just confidence questions, though confidence is often part of the picture. They're questions about voice, worth, transition, self-expression, and the particular kind of internal negotiation that many women navigate almost continuously — between their own knowing and what's expected of them.
This site was created to make coaching-informed thinking available to women who are in the middle of this work — and who want something more substantive than motivational content, and more accessible than a formal coaching engagement.
Read the articlesThis site leads with the subject matter — women's growth, voice, confidence, and transition — and holds the brand connection lightly. The work is what matters.
What appears here reflects patterns from genuine coaching and therapy work — not generic advice rewritten to feel personal.
Growth is rarely linear, and the content here doesn't pretend otherwise. We're more interested in useful than in optimistic.
Workshops and guided resources are in development. Until they're ready, this is a reading and reflection resource — and that's enough for now.
Michelle Mah is a psychotherapist and coach at The Curious Bonsai. Her approach brings together clinical depth and practical coaching — attending to both the emotional roots of what clients are navigating and the concrete changes they want to make in how they live and work.
Her work with women has centred consistently on a handful of themes: how women grow through significant transitions, how they recover from long periods of self-diminishment, how they learn to trust their own perspective again after years of deferring to others', and how they build the kind of quiet, grounded confidence that doesn't require external validation to sustain itself.
This site reflects Michelle's view that good coaching thinking should be widely accessible — not locked behind a fee or available only to people who already have the language to ask for it. The articles here are written with that in mind: substantive, specific, and genuinely useful for women at different stages of this kind of growth.
